Dick Whittington is a pantomime for key stage 2 and key stage 3 children. First performed in a small Lancashire village school it has a variety of parts suitable for a mixed ability group. Add to this the opportunities for dance and music and it becomes a very flexible musical that can suit a wide range of school or community ensembles. The set is easily adapted depending on how varied resources may be. The authors suggestion is a half round production with seating on either side. The set can be an Old London town scene at one end of the stage and a sailing ships bridge at the other. There are, however, many ways in which it can be staged. A parents or adults choir is a good idea too, to swell young voices when they become tired. A CD of all the songs sung and as backing tacks is available. Duration - about 50 minutes. Ages 7-11 Nick Cornall Nick is mainly a writer of music, although he does perform too. He has played with or supported the likes of Billie Jo Spears, The New Amen Corner, The Big Town Playboys, Sherman Robertson and the Walter Trout Band, to mention a but a few. A very successful writer of children's and theatre music, writing musicals for large leisure companies, such as Pontins UK, Nick has also written for albums, particularly in the country sphere. Nick is at present Head Teacher of a Junior School in the North of England. A perfect job for him to test run his delightful musicals. We hope you like the selection of music on offer. |
