This concert piece is a traditional look at the events leading up to, and after, the birth of Christ. Each short, cameo scene, is linked by a modern song or carol. The scenes can be acted out or narrated as appropriate to the production. There are twenty individual parts, if acted, and nine songs. The concert begins with the visitation to Mary with the amazing news, and Joseph's understandable reaction and culminates with the threat from Herod to eradicate this threat to his position as king of the jews. The songs range from beautiful, lyrical ballads to dynamic gospel. If you haven't got a lot of time or resource or just want a traditional lead up to Christmas this could be the one for you! A CD of Backing Tracks and Vocals is available. Age Guide 7-12 Duration About 40 minutes The Writers Mike Smith
After training at the Birmingham School of Music and St Lukes Teachers Training College, Mike qualified as a Music Teacher and became Head of Music in schools, mainly in the Midlands. He was for a time Education Manager for Yamaha Kemble and following his time there started up Musicline. That was 14 years ago now and the company that started with 4 works and a photocopier has grown to become a leading source of School Musicals for all ages, with branches in New York USA and Australia. Mike, over the years, has written several musicals that have been performed on Radio, Television, schools all over the world and The Edinburgh Festival several times. Mike very much enjoys being Managing Director of Musicline but wishes he had more time to write. But as Musicline has taken on more staff recently he might now get the time and opportunity. |
