A refreshing Easter musical with terrific, catchy songs. Spring has sprung. Hedgehogs wake, flowers grow, baby chicks, kittens and lambs bounce around, and there's an Easter card for Grandma. Rise and Shine - Synopsis Scene 1 : Hedgehogs. A family of hedgehogs wake up after a very long sleep for a breakfast of worms. Scene 2 : The Garden Joe waters his beautiful flowers, but the raindrops say it is their job. Scene 3 : Chicks. Hetty the hen shows off her fluffy new chicks to the children. Scene 4 : Lambs. The children feed the excited little lambs. Scene 5 : Baby animals. The children meet foals, ducklings, baby rabbits, kittens and calves. Scene 6 : Eggs. The children give Gran and Gramps their Easter card, and are given Easter eggs in return. Rise and Shine - Script sample Narr 3 In a warm nest, near the edge of the farmyard, a family of hedgehogs was fast asleep. Narr 4 All was quiet in the cosy hedgehog home. Narr 5 Except for the odd snuffling and snoring. Narr 6 But soon all that was to change. [The Sunbeams cross the stage to tinkling musical sound effects] Daddy H [Yawns and stretches] Oh that was a long sleep. [Gently shakes MH] Wake up Mummy Hedgehog. Mummy H [Yawns and stretches] Oh I'm so tired. We must have been asleep for ages. Daddy H All winter my dear. [The Sunbeams cross the stage to tinkling musical sound effects] Mummy H Well it's spring now. Time to get up. Daddy H I'll wake the children. [Gently shakes the children as he says their name] Wake up children Harry, Henrietta, Herbert come on Hannah time to get up. [The children yawn and stretch] Harry Do we have to? Henrietta I'm tired. Herbert I want to go back to sleep. Hannah [Jumps up] Great, the sun's shining. What's for breakfast? Mummy H Worms. Children Yippee! SONG 2: RISE AND SHINEThe song provides an opportunity for the hedgehogs to perform a simple dance routine based on waking up. At the end of the song they exit. Several flowers enter and curl up on the stage. |
